…to cover the use of copyrighted materials by search engines, obviously. What’s nice about their tact, is that Google want the wording to focus on intent, rather than the technology used. There’s no way that parliaments can keep their laws up-to-date, given the rate of change online.

Far quicker than Apple and their local iTunes launch, Google now have an Aussie version of Google Video, with content from Australian publishers.

It has some “featured content” from Channel Ten, SonyBMG, some Chaser material (ABC), and some sport. Hopefully the content will be added frequently, and it’s all not just a flurry for the launch.

It has been an obvious move for along time, and as an almost daily purveyor of realestate.com.au & domain.com.au, I’m very pleased to see this superior mapping service now being used by each site (domain last week, realestate this week).

Why did it take so long? Given that both have started using it at the same time, my guess is that the Aussie version of the Google Maps API has only recently been released.

This is a wonderful kick-in-the-pants for the other 2 Aussie online maps companies, neither of which have improved their service in the last few years: www.whereis.com.au & www.street-directory.com.au
